OBD II?
I have been going under the impression that my 1999 Ford Triton V 10 requires an OBD II code reader and not an OBD I. Am I correct?
Thanks for any help.

Not sure about your chassis but auto makers switched to OBD II in 1996

OBD-II became mandatory for US cars and light trucks in 1996.
However you coach would be a heavy-truck chassis, so it may be different.
You can tell by the diagnostic connector.
It is a 16-pin connector.

A 2000 is OBDII
Look for an ELM327 based scan tool. Should be around $25 -30. Any cheaper and it is cheap and not an authentic ELM chip.
If you have an iPhone, then get WiFi. If Android phone, then get bluetooth. Use Torque Pro App on the phone.

My 99 F53 uses an OBD II reader to read set codes. However it is only OBD I compliant, look at your certification tag. I have had a reader from Harbor Freight for about 6 years works good can read live data and miss fire codes.

It's OBDII hardware with a OBDI calibration in it. Fuel tank pressurization is omitted along with the after cat O2 sensors. See page 3 for more details
