Odometer Light Flashing

Have a question: While exercising the Generator and Engine, with jacks down and slides out, I also did a walk around with the headlights on. Back in the coach noticed the odometer blinking orange. Pushed in the headlight switch and blinking stoped. This is a 2003 Newmar Dutch Star (4005) with a Spartan chassis. Have not noticed this in the past, is this because the slides are out? Called Newmar and Spartan, and they didn’t know what was causing the odometer to flash.

Well , with the slides out and jacks down , cross feed from a warning alarm is possible , other coaches wouldn't let you start the engine with jacks down or slides out.

Ok will be moving the coach in a few weeks, so will be bring in the jacks and slides. It could be the alarm is cross feeding into the odometer. I was thinking it had to do with a open circuit in the headlamps as I do have 2 running lights out. Thanks for your input.

All 3 of my coaches would - they didn't get unhappy as long as I didn't put it in gear. Two from Fleetwood and one from National RV, two gas and one diesel chassis

Follow up: Halfway between Amarillo and Oklahoma City pulled the light switch on to see if magically the flashing odometer had fixed its self. Nope still flashing on and off. I started to reflect on the PDF’s I had downloaded on the instrument cluster and recalled the dimmer was part of daisy chain. Well found out if the dimmer is turned all the way up the odometer flashes. Couldn’t believe the fix was that simple. Was happy to get it resolved, but have to admit embarrassed to admit how simple it was.
