Blackstone labs

I use Blackstone labs https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Blackstone's standard analysis will tell you what you need to know about the condition of your engine and how it's wearing. The standard analysis costs $28.00 and includes the following:

Spectral Exam: Establishes the levels of wear metals, silicon, and additives present in the oil. Also checks for coolant.

Viscosity: Determines the grade of oil.

Insolubles: Quantifies the percentage of solids present in the oil.

Flashpoint: The flashpoint is the temperature at which the vapors from the oil ignite. When the flash is lower than it should be, it shows
a contaminant (usually fuel) is present.
You can buy bulk tests for less.

Nice people and good service.

X2 been using them for years. Great company you can call and usually talk to the person who actually did the analysis if you have questions.

Each time you submit your sample of: engine, transmission, generator, differential, or coolant they will compare it to the previous samples submitted. This allows you to see the historical trend. Have used them for 8 years.

Blackstone has always sent the testing kits free of charge, and they now pay the return postage as well.

Here is an example of a report provided. This was my first oil test since I bought the coach in October with 45,900 miles on it.

I started using Peterson Cat Portland,Ore. back in 1997 when I got my first PSD and still use them. I buy 15 sample bottles at a time at a cost of $13.50 (1 or 15) price the same. I pull the sample drop it in the mail and in about 3 days I get an email and the next day I get the letter. If big construction co. use there service it works for me. Being a retired heavy construction service oil I have pulled a few samples over 36 years and they all use Cat service.

JG Lubricant Services is an IRV2 sponsor. The owner, Tom Johnson, is a former engineer with Allison and was instrumental in the development of Allison Transyd fluid. I don't use JG because they are US based and I live in Canada making shipping of samples a hassle. I have talked to Tom on a few occasions and always found him very knowledgeable and helpful.

A search in the Allison forum on IRV2 will reveal many of his threads.

All great info. Thanks. I have several different motors to add so will go with JGL, black stone, or napa. Have cat motors, Cummings, and Isuzu diesels in various equipment.
