Oil pressure sender

I am having trouble with my gauge readings on 2003 new mar Dutch star with isc 8.3 350hp. I am looking for the sending unit for the gauge on the motor where can I find it to replace it?

May be the sending unit.

On certain chassis, may be the box that "translates the signal" to the dash.

May be the dash gauge.

What chassis do you have?

Cummins has a mod, many hundreds of $. Got this tip off the forum, use Cummins Dodge 98.5 - 02 24V 4921511 from amazon works fine. The sensor is just above the starter and forward of the fuel filter.

If you have your engine serial #, you can create an account on Cummins QuickServe Online: https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html
The Engine data plate for ISC should be the same as on ISL on top side of gear housing like in the attached pic.

It's not the easiest site to navigate but once you get used to it, has lots of info including engine diagrams and component locations. The components can also be tricky to find unless you know exactly where to look.

If this coach is new to your, a previous owner may have done conversion from an oil pressure sender to a switch per the attached bulletin.
It does not explain why but we went thru similar move in the automotive industry. Too many complaints from ignorant customers why the oil pressure keeps changing but there were other factors at play also like corroding connectors on the old senders, cost to retool etc.

Doesn't that info apply only to the Cummins 5.9L engine? The OP ha an 8.3L in a Class A chassis.

The sensor 4921511 fits the 5.9 and the 8.3. damion on the forum knows more about this than I do but there is some history on the early 8.3 and the sensor. The original sensor was proportional and had problems. I put in a stuart warner gauge from a port and ran with that for years. cummins came up with a switch sensor and a new harness and reprogramming to give a fixed pressure reading. damion posted the early dodge sensor would work without the cummins mod. The 4921511 sensor from amazon was inexpensive and the changeout relatively easy. Works fine. Search damion posts for more info. Don't know why cummins didn't do this to fix the problem.---ben
