Older coach denied entry?

Hi all, please share your experience/ knowledge re: say a 20 year old coach and resorts that state 'must be 10 years old or newer'? We are considering a beautiful american eagle or country coach pusher in xlnt condition but...20 years old. I suspect these restrictions are mainly about keeping out unkempt/ poor condition eyesores and would make exceptions for exceptional motorhomes or is it really about the literal age? Cheers!

Only went to one place with a 10 year rule.

The clerk asked if my 16 year old class C looked good and I said yes. They let me in.

I most cases your suspicion is correct. Most parks allow older well cared for coaches, even when say there is a 10 year limit. The 10 year limit is basically there to allow them to refuse an old beat up junker, and is rarely invoked. Of course there may be some parks that take the 10 year rule literally, but very few, and they would be the exception.

There are as many reasons for these ignorant policies as there are parks that choose to have them.

Thankfully there are thousands of other options for places to stay that are nowhere near as snooty or openly hostile. Your money, your choice - get the RV that excites you, and then go to places that don't make you feel unwelcome.

My DP is an amazing vehicle in great shape, but if all places see is the year number on the title, then all I see from them is an abusive "condo commando" who doesn't need my money.

We've never been turned away from a park that had that rule! I think that as long as your MH looks nice it won't be a problem. JMHO

We've been flatly turned down only twice, on the phone, at parks in northern Kentucky. Those parks were in no way "resorts" and one even showed the exact same make, model and year of our MH on their website.

Others have asked questions or mentioned "no windowshaker a/c units" etc but welcomed us.

We do 40 parks a year, never been turned away at even the ritzy of the ritzy. Some ask for pics, and we gladly send them.

If they have the rule I don't even ask. Too stuck up for me. My money, my rules.

If someone is looking to be offended-they probably will be somewhere along the way. When we had other rvs that were older they either asked for a photo or reserved the right to look at it when we arrived. Never were turned away nor personally know anyone who was. If a park is rigid on the rule there are always lots of other choices, it seems.

If you encounter the 10 year rule, ask them how old their park is.

I just tell them my rig is whatever year fits the bill. It's not like they check your title.

If it is a well maintained classic coach, they will usually let you in. They will want to see it though.

They just don't want Cousin Eddie showing up in his "Genuiiine RV".

Last year we were in one of those parks next to a beautifully restored mid 80s Foretravel.

Umm.. I HAVE had several "Resorts" ask to see the registration and insurance papers, Told them that I saw no reason to spend $1.5+ million for a new coach that is the exact twin of what we have.
We just went nearly next door.. They welcomed us with open arms...[Just as nice a park, and at half the price... Las Vegas, NV, Salem,Or. and again on the southern Oregon coast]
The rest just asked for pic's before saying OK..
