Onan 5500 Oil type change?

I have a 5500 and the manual 15W40 (all seasons) or 30W (for summer only).

I had a mobile tech come by to finish (long story on the finish part) an oil change... Anyway I had 15W40 synthetic oil that I was going to use. The tech, who does all their generator work, said that Onan had changed their specs and they now recommend 10W-30 standard (not synthetic).

Anyone else heard this before?

My assumption is "true".
I get Onan's oil change kit from Amazon and their oil is not synthetic.

Aside (wasn't a problem with 6500 on previous 5er), for 5500 on coach have to pump oil out thru fill port, the drain only drains half the oil out of the crankcase.

I've had pretty good luck getting near full 2 quarts out. I run the generator for about 10 minutes to get it warm, then open the dipstick/fill cap and then open the drain valve. Leave for 15 - 20 minutes. Then remove the filter and get the rest.
