Onan 7.5K diesel back flush fuel filter?

I think I might need a fuel filter part # 149-2513 apparently they are on back order until July or who knows.

Does anyone know for sure if these are paper or all metal type screens inside?

My Gen is showing 36 code and will shut down randomly. It will restart and run right away, maybe for a few seconds and maybe for an hour. I suspect the filter i know it could be a lot of other things but it can surge like it is running lean at times.
Oil level is good. recent fan belt that is on and working. It is obviously not a temp issue because it will restart when hot.

Would love to backflush the filter but if it is paper inside I dont want to blow it apart.
Does anyone have an old one laying around they can cut open for me and check? Cummins shop I checked with did not know.

I've read on this board that is the same filter used on mid 90's GM diesel pickups.

Please double check this search.....DONALDSON P552387 replacement fuel filters as well as the Onan...link under has another whole bunch of filter brand cross references I have never heard of as well like over a hundred. Apparently many diesel manufacturers probably used cheap GM filter and used it Case ,Cat, New Holland...surprised not John Deere but they would have made threads size different and charged $100. lol

Ok I had no idea these were that universal. Cummins sure could have told me that. I think I have baldwins coming if they are actually in stock. Many are not from what I saw. Even the aftermarkets.

Thanks for the help!

Finally called a local autoparts store and he tracked one down.

Ordering on line has not worked for me. if you dig all of them I checked were out of stock. You can find a picture and put in in your cart but that does not mean much.

Thanks for the help on the aftermarkets.

I'm surprised .That's kind of expensive for iFJF filter, I can get their entire small Racor copy housing and all that is for my AH for about half of that. Larger Racor types are also really inexpensive. Maybe they seen backorder for Onan and jumped up the price.
