onan generator

What causes the generator to bog down when air conditioner is started and the power stops then comes back? It is a gas gen. New carburetor installed. Any ideas? Thanks

No enough gas getting to the carburetor or an improperly adjusted governor.

When the load is applied, the throttle link should move towards full throttle and then back off a bit, to stabilize. See if you can watch it move.

The manuals are great and will walk you through the troubleshooting. The good news is that the engine side (versus generator) is typically cheaper to fix. You'll likely find the service manual here; Ex. for a 4KY model 981-0503.

Hopefully this is linkage and carb related and not voltage regulator.
