Only one marker light?

Hello all,

I was changing out the marker lights on the rig today (2018 Fleetwood Flair). All 11 marker lights work perfectly...except one.

Hot wire labeled "TL Marker Light" has no power. I tested every fuse that I could find...still can't find anything.

I could trace the wire all the way to it's source, but the wiring harness under the RV is messy.

Any ideas where this fuse could be?

I doubt that there is a fuse for one individual marker light. If you are not getting power to the light I suspect a broken wire. If you can access both ends of the circuit, check for continuity with a volt/ohm meter.

The lights are daisy chained together so It’s probably a bad connection at another light near it and this one is on end of the chain.

Don’t rule out a bad ground either if your testing at the bad light, a bad ground will make it look like the wire is not hot. Run a jumper to frame and use that as ground for your meter and retest the hot wire.

My right mid coach side marker light had a bad ground connection coming from the left side marker, took awhile to find it

Thanks for the reply. I agree, one fuse for a marker light makes no sense. I mean, 10 of the marker lights function.

Full disclosure...

When I was working on the offending marker light, the two wires did touch at one point and sparked a bit. This is what led me to think it was a fuse.

But as Buckshot mentioned, it doesn't make sense to have a fuse dedicated to one marker light.

No expert but enough to think that .... you probably broke something in the marker light by shortening out the wires at that location. May need to carefully replace.

There should be 5 amber marker lights near the roof line in the front and 5 red marker lights near the roof line in the rear.

Here’s what I would do. Concentrate on the light that is not burning because that is where the problem is. It will not be a blown fuse. Also trace the hot wire to see where it is tied in or attempt. It’s likely that a weak connection failed when you shorted it out, but probably won’t be your problem. It’s more likely than not that your ground is bad. Try grounding a new wire from a known frame area to the light to see if you get the hot wire to become hot. Or do a resistance test on the ground. If you’re checking your hot wire at the light from the present ground and the ground is bad, their will be no voltage.

After all this, make sure your socket is good and you have a good bulb. I know that all that I’ve said here is a retake on what’s been said, but you are overlooking something.
