Organizing kitchen with movement in mind

After about 3,000 miles we have come to realize that dishes move while driving. Looking for tip on how to place dishes in the cabinets to prevent breakage. DW says I just need to learn to be a smoother driver.

We place paper towels between each dish or cooking pan, we have used rubberized shelf liner cut to size also but there more expensive. I made a wood wine glass holder that holds our stem ware upside down. We used the 3M command hangers for our spatula and soup ladles and other big spoons. We have them spaced far enough apart that they don't bump into each other. We put rubber bands around our silverware to keep them quite.

Go to any office supply store such as Staples....or UPS Store....even Target...or online at Amazon....and buy foam packing sheets. They work great for dishes, glassware, pots and pans. Lining cabinets and drawers with rubber shelf liner helps also. We do both, and everything rides very quietly.

The rubberized shelf liner to stack dish's/bowl and salad plates on. Same for pot's and pans. Both as a shelf liner and cut to size to buffer pot's from their lids. Folded kitchen towels are stuffed in silver ware/utensil drawers.

X2 on the rubberized shelf liner. Cut into small pieces and placed between anything that rattle or could break. It also keeps thing from sliding around.

Towels.

You own them already.

They fit into any shape.

You can put them in the fridge to hold everything from bouncing.

Shove them into your china cabinet to restrict movement. (Use cheap socks around your wine bottles)

When parked, pull them out and put them away.

No purchase, no fancy expanding shelf-keepers, etc.

Over the years I'd collected a boatload of different sizes of towels that I deemed were no longer good enough for in the bath/kitchen...wherever. Those were relegated to the shop towel box. Found out that box was a treasure trove of cushioning for RV items. Cut up the larger ones for dishes/pots/pans. Tube socks w/holes....good enough for glasses/ceramic mugs. A hand towel works great for the microwave glass tray.

Yeah, they aren't pretty , but ya can't beat free.

We use the rubberized shelf liner as well and our dishes are break resistant. In over 20,000 miles not one dish broken except for the coffee cup i dropped.

Get more dishes, the tighter the cabinet is packed the less movement. Same goes for your pantry if you don't want your food stuff flopping around. Fridge too, but some of us have big residential and packing them would be way too much perishable food.

As an example, I have a few drink glasses that I never use, but with the drinking glass cabinet being full enough to not allow any of them to tip it works well. I still put a towel on them because the occasional rattle sound annoys me.

As others have said that rubber stuff works well too. I cut small pieces of this stuff to put between plate styles... eg dinner plate stack with saucer stack on top, rubber mat between the stacks so the saucer stack doesn't slide around or off the dinner plate stack.
