Our first failure.

Got back from a short (1 week) trip to California, ran the generator on the way out for the AC, but not on the way back. Went out to start the generator to get it warmed up to change the oil, and it started, ran rough for about 15 seconds or so, then shut down with a code of 15(under frequency). Restarted it and it ran for about 3 seconds and shut down, with a code of 37(Invalid Generator Set Configuration). Now every time I try to start it, it runs for about 3 seconds and sets a 37 code. I have no choice but to take it to the nearest Onan repair facility, 100 miles away. We have an appointment for this coming Wednesday. Hope they find the problem and it's not horribly expensive. I'd try to fix it myself, but the internet has not much solid on repairing a code 37. Wish me the best.

Have you tried disconnecting the genset from the battery bank that starts it. Sometimes that MAY allow it to reboot its electronics when power is restored.

Check your oil level. Low level auto shut down.

Yep. Disconnected battery, oil level is full. It's running rich, which is not normal, so I suppose that is a symptom of the issue.

Hi Harry Stone; Do you have a diesel gen. up front in the coach and you say it's running rich. Read once about an owner that the gen shut down while driving down the road and when restarted and would only run a short time. Checked under front of gen. and a plastic bag got stuck on the air intake choking off air to the motor. Is this a possibility?

It’s gas. I’ll check the intake. Thanks

Well. Imagine that! I went out to the MH today and fired the generator up to see what it would do, and it ran! I ran it for 20 minutes with no issue. So, guess I'm canceling my appointment.

Congrats on generator working again, may have been a stuck needle seat.
