Hello all, I had a problem with my outside power step, the arm that moves the step in and out came out on the motor side so I removed the pin at the other end and put the shaft back in on the motor side and reincerted the pin only to have the shaft on the motor side fall out of the hole again, I pulled the pin on the other end and reincerted the shaft again closed up the step unplugged the power cable connector and tied up the step with a couple of bungie cords. Does anyone know why the shaft keeps falling out of the bracket on the motor end, it doesn't look like it is broken or that there was a clip holding it in place, help please.

From your description, I think I may have had the same thing happen two weeks ago. I repaired mine by removing the Kwikee gear box from the MH, disassembling the arm from the gearbox, drilling and tapping a hole in the pin end for an 8-28 macine screw and washer to retain the pin. Made certain it would clear the gearbox in its movement and not bind so as to cause the screw to loosen. I also used green Loctite to secure the screw. On mine, i had to grind a small portion of the screw head off to get no bindind during movement of the arm.
I also saw that new arms are available from several suppliers for the Kwickee steps. Google "Kwickee step repair parts".
suppok, any chance you could post a picture of your repair, I've just finished repacing, the 3 mounting screws after the head snapped off one of them, but still feel that I have excess play in the mechanism.

I would have to remove the gearbox and arm in order to photograph my repair. In the heat we are having , I relly do not want to do that. Perhaps a better description would be to say that i simply drilled the pin area of the arm that goes into the arm on the square shaft that goes through the large gear in the gear box. After drilling, I tapped the hole for a #8-28 screw, assembled the arm to the gearbox using a thin flat washer to keep the pin from pulling through again. There was no interference as the arm rotates from the washer. I did have to grind a small portion of the round screw head off as it was slightly dragging on the gearbox cover.
The linkage is somewhat sloppy on mine also. I kind of expect that due to age (12 years). After two weeks and many extend/retract operationws it is still holding together and operating well. If it fails again I will buy a new arm assembly on line and replace since mine has metal gears inside the gearbox and I do not expect any stripping in them.
