I, as a CDL-B driver, and a transporter of new Motorcoach units from the Indiana factories to dealers across the country, and who, because the 'business' of transporting falls under the rules of the DOT hours of service and logging requirements - having to have a TRANSPORT PLACARD in both the driver and passenger side windows, and a TRANSPORT PLATE on the rear..... we NEVER have to stop at ANY weigh stations, no matter length, height, or weight - even though we are in a COMMERCIAL transport business!

So, suredly, no RV owner driving their PERSONAL vehicle falls under ANY requirement to stop at ANY weight station, my own included. 80,000+ miles and never a weigh station had.

Understood, if a sign directs RVs and/or motorhomes to pull in, hey, we gotta do it. That would be a rare event to encounter I believe. I'll keep my eye open in Iowa, might be there this summer...

Well yes they do exist, but you're going to have to do your own leg work.

The Cotterell Weigh Station in Idaho, I-84 westbound.

The first time I approached it I was in the right lane. Must have been sensors in the road because suddenly lights started going off on a sign telling me to enter the weigh station. Once in, there was a line for RVs and another for trucks. I rolled over the scale and uniformed woman waived me on.

The last time I went through there I just made a point to be in the left lane passing someone. No lights went off.... I rolled on by. Nobody chased me down.
