Pad for 31' Class A (Newmar Bay Star)

I was told that I should not store it on the grass because of the moisture. Crushed stone? Concrete? How are you storing your RV?

My BayStar 3403 is stored on an asphalt pad under a steel carport. Plywood under the tires. No rust issues.

Why plywood under tires? Do you leave it on the auto leveling jacks?

My RV parking area is decomposed granite. Put it in 20 years ago in prep for concrete and have just kept it. It moves around a bit and have to spray the weeds out of it but it is cheap, easy to level, and porous so even after a heavy rain it is puddle free in and hour or so.
Looking at putting up a cover and if I do that I may pour a couple concrete runners to guide me but will leave the rest decomposed granite.

This is impossible to answer without knowing what sort of climate you live in

Store it in the best environment that you want to afford.
My 2017 Vista 29ve is parked in a 20x50 heated garage.
The temperature never gets below 50, nor above 75.
RVs are designed to be outside, so parking it on a gravel pad is ok.
Just that sometimes the sun plays havoc on the tires, roof, plastic, paint, etc..
Nice to have it in the shade when possible. It will keep it looking good for longer.

Gravel is depending on area soil for what stone available you can find if single grade will be best or larger stone or base. I keep my coach higher on jacks than ride height , while stored over gravel to let more air circulate. People swear Fluidfilm is great to prevent rust and last about a year on a daily driver and winter driver in salt belt. Might last two years on MH.

I park my RV in my garage, levelers down and slides out. Nothing under the tires except concrete. Been doing this for over 15 years without any tire problems.

His profile says he lives in Mass.
I ask if this is a tire question or overall RV question. A good sturdy cover at the least, think carport ( RV ) port to keep the elements off the roof.
I have a concrete slab with a roof and one side, south side, all the way to floor. It does what needs to be done.

Only advice is to build it larger then you need in case you upgrade. We went from a 31' Class C to a ~40' Class A. Just built a garage but built a 40' Wide by 50' deep by 16' high that could fit a 45' coach if I ever win the lottery.

If you use crushed rock do a deep enough base so that if you eventually want to pour concrete and or build a building you don't have to redo it. In the long run this could save you some $$$$$

Hello, more than likely because in the summer time the asphalt gets soft and the heavy motorhome can cause depressions in the asphalt. Using wood helps disperse the weight therby not leaving depressions or ruining your driveway.

Makes sense. Good answer.

Concrete

I decided to install a 36' x 12' x 6" concrete pad. The best quote was $3600.

My slab for my 30 footer is 16X40 feet. One could always add to later on.
I would be thinking of some kind of cover for your coach and do it as soon as you can. The elements can do lots of damage. Let me find a picture so you can see what a cover could look like with room to open slides etc.
My PC was just rebuilt so I have to look around a bit. I need to do that anyway so I will. " I'll be bahk "
