Paint job

Hi, I am interested in having my 2001 Fleetwood Bounder 39Z repainted. However, I have no direct knowledge of any RV or Truck paint shops in my immediate area that do this type of work. I would like to hear from folks that might have had their RV repainted, the name of the shop that performed the service, and their thoughts on the quality of work once completed. I would prefer to have the work done at a facility that is within 300 miles of Philadelphia, PA, but would travel further for a quality shop. Thanks, Bill

I understand that Mikes Custom Painting in Bremen Indiana does real nice quality work. Look at the thread "Mods/upgrades to our 2003 Dynasty". The OP had his Coach painted there. He is a very particular guy and is very happy with the work they did

There are two shops in my area with very good reputation. They are L&S truck painting in Ephrata, Pa- ph# (717) 733-3660 and the other is Denver Truck Painting in Leola, Pa- ph#(717) 656-8541. Both of these shops are within 70 miles of Phila. Just so you know, painting something as large as a motor home will not be a cheap endeavor. Hope this helps
Tom

Good morning rvlings and merry Christmas! I have spoken with Mike at Mikes in Indiana, nice guy and very busy which is good. He seemed to give the best price on painting our 2000 Allure, something I still want done maybe this year. Anyway I also found these guys that are close to us and a friend of a friend.

Helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft paint, interior, and avoinics completions.

They re fit and paint aircraft. They have a hangar spray booth and I had their top guy stop by my shop and take a look at painting our rv. I asked usual questions and I don't think they would have a problem painting an rv vs plane. He gave me 3 options from a clear coat re coat to original re paint (which I like) and the final estimate was a new type paint job with all the swirls etc. They were also cheaper than Mikes. I am ready to use these guys but in this thread Tom mentions two other truck places. I am going to contact them also and get estimates, thanks Tom. Also worth mentioning that if you are looking at a truck shop Coopersburg Kenworth near Allantown has a full paint booth, I am going to talk to them also as they give free onsite estimates if you job is over a certain dollar amount. Keep us posted with your findings on paint shops. I am also outside West Chester pa so you sound close!

Let us know the prices quoted - if that's not an intrusion. I would be helpful to other (like me) that are considering paint jobs in the future to know what these jobs are going for.
And more importantly, post back when the job is done and let us know if your happy with the Shop/job.
Good luck.

A Coach like yours at Mikes would be in the ballpark of 22k or so depending on the amount of additional work needed

I can't give you specifics, but the best estimates I got was $5 - $7k in Mexico, and around $20k here in the states..

I decided to do it myself, It took three months and about $1k.

I had mine cleaned up and about 5/8 of the coach repainted in Puerto Peñasco at the rv Park. Took 4 days I brought my paint and the cost was under 2k. Swirls and all.. 5 colors. Not perfect but came out really nice. 3 spots the size of dimes that need attention but was running late getting home but will have them finish the rest of the paint when I go back in a few months.. Another option

Have it wrapped. Saw one one done at local shop and looked like a new unit. A lot less money than paint and you can get any design.

DavidRVR - don't I wish I could paint outside without getting a bunch of dirt in the paint. Looks like they are painting in the desert. I would be upset (as the painter) if the wind spun up between the second and third color coats...

That's my dilemma is my shop isn't big enough (today) to paint the RV indoors. Living in the woods with all the falling debris doesn't help either. Something I need to figure out...

Waiter21, thanks for your suggestion. I added my MY info to the signature line. It will probably take a day to update. Bill
