Parking brake knob
How hard should the parking brake knob be to pull the parking brake on? Mine is very stiff both pulling on and pushing off. Sometimes I think I am going to pull the knob head off.
Is there a way to lubricate it or is replacement the only option>>>??

It was designed to require a lot of force so it would
not be inadvertently set or released.

It's designed to have some resistance, The piston in the valve has a few o-rings...with the valve pulled out, spray a little silicone lube on the shaft and push/pull it a few times (that didn't sound right, lol)
You may could remove a air line to it and spray a little in there as well.
However, the valve is fairly inexpensive and not hard to change...

You don't want Fido excitedly bouncing around and releasing the brake as you walk away from the rig to go to Walmart...

I've heard some put a short piece of PVC around the brake when parked with a rubber band to secure. Idea being to prevent Fido, kids, etc from knocking out of park.

You’re working against 120 psi of air pressure.. it’ll never be easy .
Lube yes, but try a couple of other RV with air brakes before you go to the trouble of valve replacement.

Our current Power Glide chassis brake release is much harder than the one on our Freightliner but I have gotten used to it. Personally I would rather have one that's pretty stiff than one that's too easy to push/pull.

To lube the shaft, behind the button, first drain the air from the system by pumping the service brakes until you don't hear it.
Then push and pull the park brake knob a few times. Now spray the silicone on the shaft while you continue to do that.
Once done, start it up, let the pressure build up, and see how it feels.

As a side: A wooden clothes pin fills the gap between the panel and the knob to avoid accidental parking brake release.

This is what I use when parked. Takes about 10 seconds to put on/off and there is no way a kid or dog can send your rig rolling.

All are great ideas and suggestions.. Thanks for the responses. I dread changing out the switch if the silicon does not work. Either way it will be a few weeks b4 i can do anything as I just had a neck fusion a couple weeks ago. This gives me time to figure out my plan.

I use air tool oil, it has no additives to deteriorate seals and gaskets. Just a couple of drops seems to get air valves working properly again.
My air-powered step cover stopped working, a few RV repair shops attempted to get it worrking to no avail. A few drops of air tool oil into the air supply line, and it works great again.
