To depart, I turn the key on but don't start the engine and bring in slides (yep have to listen to the buzzer until the air bags reach a certain pressure), then start engine and raise jacks, disconnect and stow utilities (I don't like head bumps either). By this time engine has warmed a little, air bags are filled and I drive off. I only move my slides out or in with the coach level.

It sounds as if there may be an issue with the leveling system control as others with Winnebago products state the air bags do not fill until the "store" button is pushed. Since the Winny manual calls for engine running, something is amiss. Have you tried calling Winnebago and explaining the problem--that the air bags fill as soon as the engine is running and the levelers are still deployed?

BTW, before you start the engine, do you turn ON the power to the leveling system? If not, and the system does not automatically come ON (it doesn't on my coach), that may be the reason. With the system ON, it may override the air bag fill until the "store" button is pushed. Just a guess.

Well,
Not knowing his particular system, what model it is, and it's operating instructions, it's hard to give a more accurate answer. We all can give answers but, WE may (and quite possibly do) have a different system. But, for ANY coach, to AUTOMATICALLY START FILLING the suspension, with NO INPUT from the driver, sure seems not right to me.
