Pocket Door Latch Options

We have a mid-floor plan bathroom with 2 pocket doors, one to the main living area and one to the bedroom.

They have the latches like is shown below, and they suck. When we travel, my bride sleeps a lot longer than I do, so I get up in the am and drive while she sleeps in the back. I like to close and latch the bedroom door if I can, but it WILL NOT stay closed when we're going down the road.

I thought maybe there is an adjustment, but I think the issue is that these don't really have enough "hook" for this application.

Anyone come up with a solution? I thought about other latches, but they have to obviously be dual facing so they can open from either side of the door.

The HardwareHut.com has different styles. This one looks very sturdy and secure.
