Pole Barn

We are getting ready to put up a pole barn to cover our coach here in Arizona. As you know the sun is relentless here, and the wind is never ending.

I was wondering what company(s) you have used to buy the kit?

We are looking at a 38' x 20' foot carport type with one metal panel on each side just below the roof to get a bit of extra "sun" coverage. The size is to fit our 32' motor home and the toad (Jeep Cherokee) beside it. We dont have room to go much deeper in our lot so we have to go wide not deep.

We have looked at the metal frame kits from several companies but looking here for recommendations on those companies that you have used and are satisfied with, or NOT satisfied with.

Any advice before we order it is appreciated.

I'm putting up a Pole Barn too. But I'm in FL so the company I bought from is not going be of any use to you.

I follow a Pole Barn Bog by Hansen Pole barns. Per their website, they serve your area, so i would definitely give them a shout.

From their Blog Blog - Hansen Buildings I feel they are a top quality company. Hansen Pole Buildings | Affordable Pole Barn & Building Kits

Also, IMHO, you should consider going bigger. The additional cost is next to nothing. If you (or a future owner of your property) has a larger RV. The 38ft will come up short.

I'm doing a 36x48 (39 x 51 roof coverage) with 14 ft eave height.

How do you keep the fly'n critters and birds from nesting on the rafters?

I would look into ABC (American Building Corporation) Buildings. They are pre-engineered metal building. Lots of options and often a better price than a pole building can offer.

I've had a Lester building for 17 years. It was professionally built, but I think they offer them as kits as well. Absolutely no regrets, except I wish I had ordered a larger building.

Ours isn't a pole barn, more of a supersized car port. We're starting our 9th year with our RV port by TNT Carports. Their crew drove up from NC & had it complete in a bit over 6 hours. WAY better than the ADCO cover we had.

See photos HERE

Birds are relatively easy to keep away. Strips of Mylar tied to rafters is effective in windy areas as are spike strips. Spike strips can be the type meant for gulls and other large birds meant for exposed areas or carpet tack strips for protected areas on top of beams and other protected perches.

Check out American Steel Carports. I used them several years ago for a 20X21 foot carport to put my firewood under here in northern Iowa. They will build in Arizona also. 4 guys showed up when they were suppose to and were packed up and leaving about 3 or 4 hours later with my completed (woodport) ready to be used. They make lots of different sizes. Very easy to work with, the price was good and the building is holding up well.

I bought from here https://jordantruss.com/
The "kit" was $6,800 including the "Engineered Plans" ($550) and delivery to my address ($840). Labor to put together not included.

Mine is an "open sided" structure - like the photo (photo is not my barn. I'm still building mine). I may enclose it later - but for now I just want to get coach out of FL sun.

Your tires will be exposed, don't forget to cover them. The AZ sun will ruin them.

Sounds like you are talking about a metal Carport. If that is what you are looking at you will not have room to park the Jeep next to the RV. The metal carports have braces on each side that limit how close your RV can get to the side. I have a 18 foot wide carport and with the RV inside there is just a little more than walking room on each side. If I had a "do over" I would go with the wood Pole Barn as pictured above. You get full use under it and can close it in later.
