Poll, how do you use your MH?

I guess in the back of my mind, I assume many folks with bigger RV's probably use them for extended seasonal stays, but then the back of my mind is a pretty lonely place. I am thinking, the bigger the RV, the more likely they are to use them to winter in the warmer climates or head north to the cooler areas to escape the hot southern areas. And I am presuming at the upper end 42 foot DP's are owned most likely by retired folks, while smaller class A's might be younger families that just use them to vacation. I may be in the middle with a 32' gasser, but I am retired and spend 3 months in FL and 2 weeks in northern Michigan. And I did take a 7 week trip out west last summer, but that type of trip was likely a once in a life trip for me.

By doing a poll, you can never hit a category that fits all, but this is my attempt:
  • Vacations only, typically 2 weeks or less at a time
  • Extended multi stop tours of a month or more
  • Primarily to relocate seasonally for 1-2 months per year
  • Primarily to relocate seasonally for 2 to 6 months per year
  • We seasonally relocate and take many other trips per year
  • Full timer

I'll pick answers 4 and 6. We fulltime, no home base anywhere. We generally volunteer or workamp someplace for about 3-5 months, then poke around for a month or so enroute to our next position.

32' Class A Gasser, with slide, transitioning out of the S & B to be full time in about a month. We have family everywhere; FL, GA, ID, WA, IL.... Just plan to wing it for a few years. No hurry to get anywhere, just want to see the country!

None of the poll selection fit us, and others methinks are like us. We are once a month weekenders, to nearby locations. Additionally we do two or three week long vacations yearly, typically to destinations 1-2 days travel. We have a family and friends group, a member of a Good Sam club, and a couple Jeep/off-roading groups, that we RV with.

At retirement in another few years we anticipate to be in the category of multiple stop, month or longer trips, several times a year.

We are a relatively young family. Husband, wife and 2 preteens. We have a 40' diesel pusher with bunk beds that we use for 20-30 night per year. Usually two weeks is our maximum time away from home in one trip and the rest are weekends during the summer. The MH sits in storage from late October too late April. Hope that answers your question.

We are a couple with each having kids from previous marriage 8 total. All are over 17 except one so it typically is just us three. 40' dp and typically no more that 10 days at a time. However we avg about 10 wknds in addition to the week trip.
Can't wait to full time it. But I've got 20 more years to work. :-(

We just moved from a small travel trailer to a 40' DP. We plan on heading to Florida (from Chicago) in the winter with my four labs so they can get exercise and enjoy the beach daily. They are spoiled. My husband will be with me on and off since he can work remotely at times (I do not work). I am 32 and he is 34.

Young family of 4, kids 8 and 5. Using our 34' gasser for the first time this weekend for Mother's Day. Hoping to be an every other weekend kind of family, at least to begin with. Ran out of vacation this last fall, doesn't roll over till Sept, and at that point we'll be a month from parking it for the winter. Told the DW if we are going to spend the money, we are going to use it, this first year we'll be keeping it close to home, only a few hours away at most.

i don't fit any category either, 3/4 timer here. Live in it 5 days a week so i don't have to commute to work. Weekends I'm home or she comes to me. 4-6 weeks a year we're in for vacations and occasional weekenders.

36ft and weekend warriors with (and without) kids... typically take at least one week long vacation with the kids.

We are retired with a 34' 3" long MH and do all of the above except being a full timer.

We use ours all through the warm season -- weekends, day trips, vacations -- anytime we want to bring the kitchen and bedroom along! Beats hotels and eating out.

For us:

- Extended multi stop tours of a month or more

However, this summer we'll be camp hosting at Yellowstone for the first time, so no "multi stops" then.
