Portable Satellite Antenna connection
I bought a new Winegard Carryout G3 portable automatic satellite antenna. Can I connect the coax to the “cable tv” connection in the utility bay instead trying to run the new coax to the electronics cabinet in my coach? There is only a single coax in the comartment so somewhere/somehow the system can distinguish between cable tv input and satellite antenna input. I understand each tv has a “source setting” and if my plan works I may have to choose “cable tv” option in order to connect to the Wingard that is connected to “cable tv” connection in the utility bay? Clear as mud, right?
Thanks in advance.

How are you going to connect your sat TV receiver?
Your present setup has one-way splitters in the "cable TV" coax to feed the different TV's. These one-way splitters prevent the sat receiver from communicating with the antenna.
That's why a sat antenna has to be connected directly , no splitters, to the sat receiver.

It is possible to use the cable connection, however you will need to locate its termination in the RV and disconnect it from the amplifier/ splitter. From there you will need to run a coaxial cable to the receiver.
It will be simpler to just add a need connector through the wall into the area at the satellite receiver.

If your internal coax goes directly into the receiver, yes you can use it. No splitters or switch box in between. Direct TV should be no problem, but I have never had success with Dish on any portable antenna. This maybe an exception. My experience is Winegard says the antenna is good and Dish says the receiver is good. Each states the problem is the others and will do nothing.

I ran new, high quality coax. You never know how many splitters and connections are in the walla.
That being said, hook it up and try it. You might get lucky.

I use one of these to overcome line losses. Also you need to make sure there are no one way splitters in the line. The sat receiver sends voltage to the portable dish to power it. [ATTACH]402224

The answer is . . . maybe. YOu need to ID components and a plan to implement.
1. What grade is the current coax size? You need at least RG6.
2. Is there an amplifier? Can you turn it off? Must be able to.
3. Are there splitters? This may degrade the signal.
4. Where does your cable terminate? TV? Media cabinet?
5. Is there room for a receiver or do you need to reroute?
6. You will need an A/B switch to move the signal from the TV/cable box, to your receiver.
7. Now you need an HDMI from you receiver to a TV or to a HDMI splitter to multi TVs.
