Possible inverter failure

Have a 2017 Thor Outlaw. We have a Xantrex XM1800 inverter on the coach with a remote switch located just inside the front entrance. I noticed a fault code this afternoon of E05/OL which the manual says is an overload/shutdown. Upon inspection of the inverter in storage cabinet I found a fair amount of smoke and the smell of an electrical burnout. We were connected to 30 amp service with our southwire surge protector but that did not fail nor did the circuit breaker at the source.
I cannot get shore power back to the coach. I am running off the generator, my question being am I still charging my batteries? I depend on the Xantrex led switch to indicate if we are charging but I only have the error codes showing. They do have an indicator light that shows green which I am hoping indicates I am charging the batteries.

Any input would be much appreciated while we wait for service in the am.

Hi. I don't believe that model is a charger, so likely you have a converter/charger somewhere that hopefully still works. Straight up guessing because I don't know how your coach is wired. However, I'm confused - were you plugged into house when the inverter threw the code ? Why would the inverter be on ?
That code is normal for that unit because an 1800 can't take much, don't ask me how I know. If you can't get house power suggest follow the power from the pole, check the pole breakers, then the house breakers then if you have the wiring diagram it might lend a clue.
On a personal note, since your 1800 may be in the grave consider a 3000 watt pure sine.
Hoping someone familiar with this coach happens along.

Did you have some heavy draw items plugged in like space heater, iron, hair dryer, etc? You might have tripped the circuit breaker on the inverter if you did.

LT Dan is right. The 1800 has a GFI that should have a green light on, or needs to be reset - however it's also got pop up breakers, little black thingers in the back. But, your inverter should not be wired in a position to interrupt house power. That would not make sense, but it's an RV so....

I I was plugged into house power ( 30amp). I was running gen to run the 3 AC units at the time. In shutting down the gen is when the inverter threw the code.

I have checked the pole breaker( not tripped) and the house breaker( also not tripped)

I doubt the inverter is powering the AC units.

Check the inverter itself to see if there is a tripped breaker on it.

So...you were actually running the generator at the time of the fault ?

If you have power to the coach with the generator, but don't have shore power, first, check the breakers for the outlet, next, check the transfer switch, as both shore power and generator power go thru the AC main breakers.

As far as if your batteries are charging place a volt meter at your battery terminals and check voltage.
Most likely if at 13.5 volts or so you are float charging 14 or more in bulk charge mode

And as with everyone else check breakers on inverter

Could.have blown a large fuse as well

Keep us posted

We had a service out yesterday to diagnose.
They went thru reset procedures on the inverter and could not clear the fault codes. They did check batteries which were still at full charge. They said that our unit has a converter also which charges the batteries and as stated above there is a transfer switch that I understand allows the generator to continue to charge the batts. They said we were still getting power in and out of the inverter even though the fault codes could not be cleared. We have switched back to shore power and all seems to be working. We are going thru process with warranty to replace the inverter.

If you let the magic smoke out (sounds like you did) that was probably due to an internal failure in the inverter.
