I have an 08 fleetwood bounder with electric leveling jacks. I have had three failures due to moisture/water getting in motor head. Does anyone have a sloution to how to water proof/cover the jack head to keep water out?

Related to jacks, we have a general question regarding the necessity of jacks under a slideout. We have a 2000 Winne Itaska 32' w/a single living area/dining slideout. It looks to go about 24" out, but that seems to be a lot of weight and creates an unbalanced situation. Opinions, please, on yes or no, and if yes, any suggested styles/brands. Thank you.

I believe the general consensus is that support jacks are not necessary under a slide, and in fact could damage the slide if the RV should shift. RVs are constructed to handle the weight of the slide and no other support should be necessary.

Thanks, Sarah and Hubby (and Harry). We'll no longer fret over that issue - now on to others.

If you go to. The link Cliff posted and I realize there are 50+ pages of comments in this thread but it has been a learning thread for all of us with power gear jacks and I can say if you scroll through the 50+ pages you will find everything you need to fix your powergear jacks for good. If you do a search under my log on name I put up a post with all the links to powergear info on repairs breakdown of parts, resetting the control panel and certain do's and dont's I also posted how to disassemble the brake unit and repair and reassemble and how I used this Performix Brand 11-oz. Plasti Dip Black Rubber Coating Spray-11203-6 at The Home Depot and sprayed the motor and boot assembly the entire top of the gear box and any area that might possibly let water in and they have been flawless ever since. But do yourself a favor and read the 50+ pages
