Power Gear Leveling System Issue

Hello forum . Our 1997 Fleetwood Discovery has the Power Gear leveling system. The one that does NOT have auto leveling. Our two front jackstands will not move. The back ones work as normal The motor runs when we press the button but they don't move up or down. When we would push one on the front jackstands up with a car jack, the other front one would extend and vice versa which means hydraulic pressure is stuck there on both the front jacks. We disconnected the hydraulic line to one of the front jacks to relieve the pressure and they both sprung back up but still will not move again when button is pressed. We have hydraulic fluid in the reservoir also. We are thinking a solenoid is bad which will not open to allow hydraulic fluid to pass freely. Does this sound about right? Also, does anyone know where to buy a new solenoid. I usually have no problem finding things on line but can't find them. Also, if anyone thinks it might be something else, any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance and hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Yes, it sounds like a solenoid issue. I think all three solenoids are the same. Have you tried moving one of the rear solenoids to the front solenoid location? First, determine that you have power going to the front solenoid when the panel is operated. If not, solve the power problem first.

You can also swap wires between the solenoids (make yourself an original wiring diagram first) to help with troubleshooting. [When I first got my 2000 HR endeavor, the solenoid wiring was backward between the left and right rear jacks because someone had installed the wires incorrectly...so I know you can swap wires between the solenoids without damaging anything.]

The link below is a parts and service manual that probably includes your version. Maybe it will be helpful.

I believe that Power Gear will not accept orders for parts from non-dealers, so you will have to find an rv place to order for you. Once you know the part number, search E-Bay as there are some Power Gear parts on E-Bay.

Thank you Fred. We will definitely be trying this. Swapping the wires and seeing if it is an electric or mechanical failure. When we find the problem, I will post about it as it might help others. We do have the part numbers for the solenoid so hopefully our local RV supply can get us a replacement if needed. Thanks again.
