Power question

Hello, I hope you all can provide this novice a few answers. we just pulled into a park that offers 50 amp service. After plugging in I can only get one a/c unit and a few recepts to work. I turned on the generator and am able to get the second a/c fired up so now both a/c’s are running but the electronic recepts (tv, sound bar, dvd, etc) still are not working. My smart EMS shows I’m only using 36 amps, why can’t I get all power from the 50 amp service and turn off the gen?

You're only getting 1 line of the 50 amp service. Turn off your air conditioner and any other high load items (water heater, etc). Flip the 50 amp pedestal breaker fully off and back on. Inside your coach breaker box, flip off and on the master breakers. Check your converter/inverter/charger and see if any circuit breakers need to be re-set (inverters usually have the little round push-in breakers on their 120v output).

Start turning things back on and see what you've got. If nothing has changed you have a problem with your shore power plug or cord (or cord reel if so equipped) or your transfer switch.

The 50 amp service from the campground might only be feeding you one leg. Or you might only be getting one leg of power through your cord or transfer switch.

A 30 amp RV connection is one leg of power up to 30 amps.
A 50 amp RV connection is two legs of power up to 50 amps each. So you should get more than 3 times the power out of a 50 amp RV connection.

Until you get the issue sorted out be careful running the generator while hooked up to power. Providing you have a large generator on your RV everything should work when on generator. And everything should work on a 50 amp RV connection as well. Everything meaning reasonable not every single thing in the rv at once.

If possible try a different site, this will tell you if the wiring problem is on your side or there side of the plug.
