I went to a drapery outlet store and purchased full length drape pleated panels.

I took them to a seamstress after measuring the old ones and she sewed the panels together and shortened them and hemmed the bottom.

I used the drapery spike hooks in the top pleats and put them back up like the old ones were. The drapes I bought were a light color that matches my interior and are backed by darkening material that was part of the drapes. (Room Darkening) on the package. Easy Peesy

We went to JC Penny and found some pleated drapes with the black out already in them. They were 84 inches long. Paid around $90.00 for them. Bought 4 packs of glide tape that has the clips in them for hanging on the track.
Took the curtains, glide tape and our measurements to a local upholstery guy. He cut the curtains to our length and width specifications, sewed in some velcro fasteners to join the panels together where we specified and put the glide tape and pleats in the tops of the curtains. He did a great job
We had $325.00 in the new front drapes when done. They are so much thicker, they block out much more light then the original curtains and they look a whole lot nicer.
