I am mounting my TST TPMS sensers on my 2007 Tiffin Allegro Bus.
However I am finding the two outer rears have the velve stemn mounted in a way that makes it impossible to mount the senser.

The velve stems are mounted INTO the round hole in the wheel.
Options ?????
1---let air out of tire --- loosen nut and try to turn valve stem around -- tighten nut and reair the tire --- Is that possible???? (I don't think the valve stem will swing around and clear the hole without some inward movement)
2 ---take it to a truck tire place (45 min from me --and need an appointmen) and have them do it.

I would rather have the stems facing out to add air easily also.

Take the hub caps off, the hole behind the small hubcap hole is a larger oval.

You can then either install it facing inward or will have room to spin the stem.

It can be done with the stems mounted as-is, or at least it can with my TM sensors. You have to start the thread between two finger tips at nearly the full extension of your fingers. It's awkward, and you need to use an assortment of, um, "magic words" (most of them comprising four letters each). You will need a stick to get the sensor out from between the wheels when you drop it (and you will get plenty of practice doing that), but...honest...it can be done.

I have been unable to find a rational explanation for mounting the valve stems that way. When we get tires next year I will get new short, straight stems to make my life easier.

On my Newmar I can just reach between the two wheels and screw it on from the back side. Maybe get a skinny kid to help.

My rims are solid aluminum rims -- for posts 2 and 3 -- not hubcaps.

For the last post -- I read that stems are IN --- OLD SCHOOL
my last RV had the stems pointing OUT on aluminum rims-- very accessible.
My thought is unless you do a million miles a year -- like a trucker -- lets make this convenient.

I want them to point out -- now back to my question.

Is this DIY per option 1 -- or have to go to RV TRUCK tire shop -- option 2

Yes, Let the air out . Loosen the nut and spin it around. Put it back together. Just Dont drop it in the wheel !

You will probably have to spin the nut all the way off the threads and tip the stem down into its hole. Just be certain that the rubber seal on the inner part of the stem is not damaged. To avoid accidently dropping the stem through the hole, create a stop with duct tape over itself at the end of it so it can't go through, or do it with the stem at the top position.

I've never done it with the round holes, but I think that there will be enough room to rotate the stem once you loosen the nut.

I’ve changed my outside duals on a Prevost and again on my current London Aire. The first time, I went to a tire shop and the tech merely listened the base nut just enough to spin the stem...no air released. The next time, I did it myself (without dumping the tires air).
If this makes you uncomfortable, go to ANY heavy duty repair or tire shop. $25 later, it’ll be done.

On my coaches, I just loosened the nut, and turned the valve so it was parallel to the wheel, and tightened the nut back up. Never lost a pound of air.

If you do it yourself before me tell us as I also need to rotate for TPMS. Cannot put TMPS as is on the inside as it would be to much of a hassle to remove to check and or adjust pressure.

I would just have my tire guy do it except it's 50 miles away. Kinda inconvenient . So if their are enough positive responses I'll go for it if you do!

Thanks for the last few replies from prople who have turned them around.
That was the information I was looking for.

I will post my results in a few weeks --- probably will not do it until after our two week vacaion in the RV.
