Some forests have wood burn fire restrictions, not with these.

I used one all last summer in Steamboat Springs. That is the same one I used and it was great...no smoke, no ashes to dispose of etc..
I use a 5 gallon tank and had 2 refill it 3 times in 21/2 months using it 4-6 days a week and some mornings.
If you use it, I believe you will enjoy it more than a wood fire.

I like ours, but the novelty has worn off and we don’t use it much anymore. When we did the smaller LP cylinders would freeze up to the control valve when you open up the valve too much. So does the bigger grill tanks!

Been using one for years when traveling with firewood is not possible. Like the convenience, heat that is produced, and ability to light and extinguish quickly. Our experience is that a normal size propane tank will last 10-12 hours depending on level used when burning the fire pit.

We like ours and have been using it for 3 years. The tanks last several hours depending on how high the flame setting is. I don’t like the smoke from fires and my wife’s asthma is really aggravated by camp fires especially when people occasionally burn scraps and PT wood which should never be burned.
I find many CGs are not allowing wood and with fire season seemingly longer that’s probably a good thing.
Good luck. We bought ours from ace 3-4 years ago.

Propane Fire Pit Ring

Just a slightly different thought: friends of ours showed up with one of these Pits at a RV Resort last October. We really liked it so bought one. Here’s the note: the Pit the OP showed the pic of has a round ring for a base. Ours (see link below) has 4-legs. We find ours to be easier to level and more stable. Just our opinion.

This is as good a thread as any to point out that if you're in California, you'll need a permit as per the following link:https://www.readyforwildfire.org/per...mpfire-permit/

"Campfire Permits are required for open fires, such as campfire, barbecues and portable stoves on federally controlled lands and private lands that are the property of another person."

Propane campfire

I have been using this propane campfire for 2 years already, and I really love it. We can use it at least 5 or 6 nights with the same propane tank. I plugged my propane campfire on the motorhome propane tank (120 pounds) with a 30 foot propane hose, so we never miss propane. In many locations, we can’t use wood for campfire because of the high risk of forest fire, but they will accept propane fire. Also, it heats up quick, no smoke under the wind, no wood to carry or buy, and easy to carry everywhere. I keep mine away from rain and rust under the awning when we finish using. I prefer this fire than the regular wood campfire. I am in Canada.

Love our propane fire pit

We have had ours for a year. We love it. It roasts marshmallows very well. I’m not sure how long our propane tank lasts. Sometimes we burn the fire for 30 minutes. Other times it may be several hours. We either have the tank refilled at the campground or at a propane facility. Wouldn’t travel without it.

Propane storage?

Where do you store your propane tank when travelling? I'm thinking that a safe place is important.

I didn't want to use larger propane tanks, and the 1-lb bottles would be wasteful, so we went with the Flame Genie pellet fire pit. We use heating pellets (not smoking/grilling pellets) as they're about $6 for a 40-lb bag. I start them with Sterno Fire Gel.

A roughly 4-lb batch of pellets provides for a very nice post-dinner session that produces virtually no smoke and burns itself out in under 40-minutes.

It does generate a lot of downward heat, so be careful where you place it.

Best regards,
Chris

Another Little Red Campfire user here and I have not gone through a 20 lb tank in one season and ended up getting a smaller 10 gallon tank plus we also use it with a cook top when we need another burner for large pots. We set it at a low flame to make the ceramic logs glow since we do not like the jet engine sound that comes with running it on a high setting. At reasonable settings the propane lasts a long time.

Ours arrived to day and quite nice. Still does not take the place of a wood camp fire but here in the SW and a lot of other places as well you cannot burn wood (fire bans).
