Propane Tank

I think I have a faulty propane sending unit as it doesn't show any in the tank at the panel in the coach. I have had it topped off but still shows empty in the coach. Outside of dumping all the propane how can you empty the tank. My local RV Centers say bring it in when it's empty?

There are 2 parts to the sending unit. The float assembly, in side, drives a magnet. The gauge, on the outside, reads the magnet and can be removed and replaced with out emptying the tank.
If memory serves me correctly, the gauge assemble operates from 0-90 ohms.

Should be a needle on the outside, tank guage to see if full.

Like mentioned, the plastic gauge snaps off or has 2 tiny screw holding it. No gas leaks changing that.
It will also have 2 wires on it, check them and the connections a foot up the wires.

You likely have a Manchester G-12846 propane tank gauge sender. Take a close look at the gauge on your tank. It may just snap on the base that threads into the tank. Gauge is magnetically coupled with the base. No propane is released when gauge is pulled off for testing or replacement.

The two wires can be cut. When gauge is disconnected you should read empty inside. When wires are shorted together you should read full. Gauge sender varies the resistance on those wires to match tank level.
