Smile Pros and Cons of Split Bath FloorPlan

Hi all - I am looking for some input on pros and cons of a split bath floor plan (commode and sink on one side, shower in separate area on other side of coach). I KNOW that floor plans are personal preference, and I appreciate that everyone will say it's up to me. What I want to know is for those of you that have had a split bath or have had both kinds, can I hear your pros and cons.

We are still in the process of buying and have nothing to compare to other than we are consciously trying to make the coach as "home-like" as we can. The unit we are most interested in that has a split bath seems rare and hard to find, so wanting to get input to how important this will really be and if we should hold out and find the coach that has split bath. We are looking at Newmar NewAire 3341.

Thanks ahead of time for your constructive useful input

As long as the commode and sink are together your good to go. I have the sink by it'self in the bedroom and it SUCKS! Well, I can deal with it . The wife hates it.

We have the Newmar Canyon Star 3710 ,did not think we needed two bathrooms but I was wrong.... love having my own bathroom and the wife has hers , also if you have guests then they have there own [emoji736]
Look at the 3710 floor plan ... King bed , washer dryer, 4 TVs and fire place which we use a lot.... great layout

To us, the main thing is the toilet is all by itself in its own room with a door and is always accessible with the slides in or out. We like having the sink and shower "across the hall."

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

We have the toilet and a vanity in a separate room on one side, then the shower and a larger vanity in the hall on the other side. We love it!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Ours is split bath and we like it. We both have a sink and can get ready at the same time. Only rarely do we wish we have a second toilet. I have had to do the penguin walk to the campground restroom a few times but that beats having to clean the second toilet.

I personally like having the toilet separate from the main bathroom. We camp often with several people on board, and you have to go through the main bath area to access the rear bedroom. If the toilet was in the main bath area, this would mean anytime someone was using the toilet, you cant get to the rear bedroom. With the separate toilet room, this isn't a problem. The only issue I have with this layout is that the room for the toilet is often quite small. There is barely room enough to turn around in there. If you don't camp often with guests, or you have an extra bathroom for guests, I would consider the open bathroom concept. They sure don't make these things for people of any size, that's for sure.

We've had both, and I personally like the split bath we had in that we could open both doors at the end of the hall to make it a bathroom 'room' and the shower was residential in size....

BUT, the bath and half we have now seems to work too

We also have had both floor plans and like John boy above prefer the split bath for the room when you get out of the shower I'm a big guy and found it really hard to dry off in the side bath floor plan, the draw back is lack of access to the rear of the bedroom when some one is in the shower but with a little pre planning it's not a issue.

Ours is split, shower on passenger side, toilet/sink room with solid door on the driver's side. I remember wondering about the split back when we first chose to buy it but we found out quickly that it was just fine. I think I like it mainly because it offers us a regular size shower stall with glass door and a decent size potty room.

Having said that, I'm sure we would have gotten used to whatever layout we would have ended up getting.

Had a split bath in our Sunline travel trailer, and have "all in one" in our Bay Star. Given a choice, I'd prefer the split. I can see where the importance of having what you like is very important if full timing. For our casual trips and winter get away, we can manage with the all in one.

First bus had a split and I hated it when traveling with my daughters. I couldn't get to my bedroom when they were showering.

It did have a toilet and sink behind a separate door on one side, which to me is absolutely necessary, I don't like the thought of what might be on door handles after doing your duty then having to open a door and wash up in another room.

When showering you needed to shut the door to the living space and that blocked the bedroom. If just my wife and I were traveling it wasn't much issue as I have seen her nekkid a few times believe it or not.

Current bus has an entire bathroom behind one door and we love it, and hallway past that to the bedroom.

We like the split bathroom (shower/sink and toilet/sink) in our coach. It works great for the two of us.

We like the split bath. We have the commode in a closet on one side and the shower and sink facing it. It fits us better than the newer layouts with a half bath in the front and full bath in the rear.
