Pull through newb question

I stayed at a nice RV park last week. It was fairly new and had nice size back in and pull through sites. I decided to take a pull through but was perplexed that the power and sewage was located very close to the back of the pull through so I needed to pull into the site pulling forward to allow the toad to clear the street, unhook the toad, park it off the pad, then back up the rv to get closer to the electric and sewage hookup and then drive the toad around to the front of the RV and park nose to nose. So the question is why have a pull through if you need to go through all those gyrations? I'm still new to RV's and campgrounds but I have stayed at many with pull throughs that had plenty of room to keep the toad attached and still hook things up with a reasonable reach. I guess the questions are, is this a normal pull through and why would you design it this way to begin with. It was not just my site, all the pull throughs were like this. What am I missing?

I'd say that configuration is not common. Yes, we've had to do that a few times, too. Truthfully, we like backins better. They, most often, offer more privacy and space between sites. If you can get one on the outside row you will have no one behind you.

Many pull through sites are set up for 5th wheels and travel trailers. The easiest solution is to carry a sewer hose extension as well as water and power extensions.

Selah nailed it, the sites are designed for trailers that have the tow vehicle up in front.

Ok that makes sense. I did not think about that . I do keep two 15 ft hoses for occasions where the reach for sewer is long distance but I'm not sure it would have reached. I could be wrong.

Yup, extensions for power, water , and sewer can come in handy. Don't use them often, but when needed good to have.
