Purchase a 2017 Fleetwood Discovery XLE 40D?

I have a friend looking to move up to a DPMH. He is looking at a 2017 Fleetwood Discovery XLE 40D. any advice, good or bad?

Nice rig! We drive a similar Holiday Rambler (also made by REV). We've been very happy with the overall build quality and components. I think your friend will be happy with it. Factory service and customer service from REV is outstanding. The 40D has plenty of power and many of the conveniences of more expensive coaches.
Condition and maintenance are everything. Make sure your friend gets a good inspection and asks for maintenance records. Check the age of the tires and get a good look at the roof, etc.

Check to see if the power pack warranty has been extended. The engine and transmission warranties can be extended 8 years directly through Freightliner. I'm not sure if they can be extended if the originals have expired though. Either way, if the past owners have been taking it regularly to Freightliner for service, your friend will be able to log in and see what's been done and when. With Freightliner and Cummins, they'll be able to see any recalls, access the manuals, look up codes, etc. by creating an online account with them. Tell your friend good luck!

I have a 2015 Discovery 40E. The chassis is great. Not so with the part above the frame. Too many small issues. Electrical water sewer are fine.
Check everything out in detail before buying.

I also have a 2015 and it has been excellent in both the chassis and also the house part.

This is my 4th motor home, third class A, and second diesel pusher, so I do have experience with Good RVs, mediocre RVs as well as 1 horrific nightmare of an RV.

I would rank my 2015 Discovery 40x tops in all the motor homes I have owned, then a National Tropi Cal gas class A, then a 2015 Jayco Grayhawk Class C (left me stranded, also had Ford Chassis Electrical problems) , then a horrific nightmare of a 2009 Safari Cheetah with a absolutely wretched Caterpillar C9 motor. Left Stranded many many times in that turd.
