The DEF tank lasts much longer than the fuel tank and I don't feel a need to carry extra fuel...so my advice, fill your DEF like you do fuel, don't carry extra with you. No need. DEF tanks are made to go a VERY LONG time between fill ups. Good luck.
Good advice, just nervous since I'm a new diesel owner.

My 450 ISL Cummins uses a gallon of DEF in 400 miles. My 15 gallon tank would take me 6,000 miles full to empty. I will add or top it off at 4,000 miles. Sometimes I carry an empty jug along and fill it when I top off the tank. We run about 10,000 miles a year, so it's never very old.

We used to fuel at a lot of card key stations without service or DEF so years back when DEF was required on the new engines we had a jug in the tool box or compartment. Many froze, never broke and never deteriorated creating any issues. The tractors set all winter long with the tanks full and again no issues in the spring. It simply isn't something to worry about and now the only deal is getting the best price for the diluted fertilizer. Last time I topped the DEF tank in NE at a truck stop they put a $500 hold on my card. Thought that was a bit of overkill. The Tuscany does seem to use a bit more than some report but still you have a 3500 mile range or so with a cushion.

Good to know, thanks, and I'll check DEF off my list of things to worry about.
