Hoping to work and travel 6-8 months of the year. Considering class a diesel, 40-45 feet, tag axle. Suggestions? Thoughts? Thank you.

Suggestions regarding working ? it sucks ! retire young and travel. After 6 Class A gas, and now a diesel, ill never own a gas again. Tags usually start on 42 and up. It's 2 more tires to maintain. Some of the 2 axel coach's ride just as nice as the tags.
It's all about the floor plan in my H O

Take a look at Newmar Dutchstars or Newmar Mountainaire or Essex. Great coaches. Depends on your budget. There are many very good brands. I own a 2002 Newmar Dutchstar 3852 with a 330 Cat. Wish I would have gone bigger and bought a tag. I have been very happy with the quality and ride of our coach. Buy the floor plan that works best for you family situation. I have a large family ( 6 kids) and should have gone bigger. The fun is in the hunt. Best of luck!

What about the Entegra Coaches?
I keep looking at them and they seem to be a step up in quality for the same money as comparable size units.

We are new (3 months) full timers with an all electric, Entegra Anthem and are very happy with the lifestyle AND our coach! We looked at Newmar and struggled between the two, both are good coaches. Look at both, choose the floor plan that fits your lifestyle. Find one at a dealer and just sit in the coach with no salesperson around, make your decision and don't look back. If you have any questions, mosey over to the Jayco Owners Forums and read the posts.

First, I would suggest you do a forum search on this subject....it is discussed here frequently, and there is a ton of valuable insight, experience and knowledge on the topic.

Floor plan is important. In addition, one thing often overlooked is adequate counter space. Take off the stove and sink covers and see how much useable space remains. You may be unpleasantly surprised at how little thought some coach builders give to this. Those counters get mighty small on rainy days and cold nights. We are blessed with an excellent floor plan that also provides incredible counter space. We also have the added benefit of a seperate bathroom sink/vanity/cabinet area for DW and for me. Believe me, that can easily become a major "stress reliever" over time. Just my 2 cents FWIW. Have fun!

I have to agree with HeapBigEngin. I also have a 2002 Fleetwood Revolution DP with the 350 upgrade cummins. The floor plan and size has so much to do with the choice. We have owned ours for about a year and it only has 42000 miles has had very little use. I do not see many Revolutions out there for sale and know why. Their owners do not sell something they really love. Not to many MH have solid wood cabinets as the Revolution has. I love only having only two slides as this makes our Revolution easy to use with the slides in. Duel AC and Heat and washer and dryer. QDG quiet diesel generator makes life nice.

+1 on floorplan. A well planned 36-38 footer can beat a poorly planned 40-42.

How YOU will use the rig is the key to making a good decision. For example, if you don't spend much time watching TV it won't make much difference where it is mounted. If you are like my DW, who lives in front of the TV 6 hours a day, it is very important.

In our case, the factory location of the TV is dumb, and required putting another flatscreen across from the reclining sofa.

Last point: You are not locked into the factory design. Refitting furniture from another model or source to fit your needs is often not much harder than doing so in a conventional residence.
