Quality of Thor Palazzo

Looking for feedback from experienced RV'ers about the quality of the Palazzo in general, and vs other manufactures such as Fleetwood Excursion 33D.
Looking at year 2013 thru 2015. thank you

I own a 2016 33.3 and have been happy with it. I bought used and had a few minor things to fix myself. I believe the quality to be on par with other makes. No coach off the lot will be trouble free. They all need some level of attention.

Your satisfaction will depend on your ability to trouble shoot and make repairs. I think the most frustrated RVers are the ones who rely on the dealer to fix every little thing.

A few months ago a couple bought a new Palazzo and posted their disappointment with having to fix a few items. Funny thing is that mine came with the same issues. I fixed the items myself and I'm again a happy camper. It all depends on your attitude.

One thing to remember about the Palazzo is that in late 2015 Thor started putting a triple track on their slide outs. Some older units have had their slides upgraded. If you're looking at older units make sure it has this upgrade.

There was a really nice 2015 Palazzo for sale in the irv2 classified section about a week ago. It had the triple track upgrade and a really attractive price. Good Luck!

I have checked out the Plazzo at RV dealerships and noticed that they retail lower than most DP’s. That’s the only input I can give.

I'm laying in bed in a 2018 Palazzo 36.3 as I type this with my thumbs. In my opinion the Palazzo is a great entry level diesel pusher. I had a list of things addressed during our PDI before leaving the dealership. We spent the night and noted anything that bothered us. A few months later some other fit and finish problems came up and we left it with our dealer who took care of the problems. I have another appointment in January to address a few more small problems. With most rvs I've owned there will be some problems. Keep a list and take it back until it's right, fixing what you can on your own. All in all I'm very pleased with my Palazzo and my dealer.

I can't be of much help to you. I've looked at a couple, and wasn't impressed with them, but that's just me. I gather from others that it is an ok entry level DP, but doesn't measure up to of quality of Fleetwood, Newmar or Tiffin. As with most models in the market, you get what you pay for.

We brought a 2017 Palazzo 36.1 in March and 11 months later, we traded it in for a 2017 Newmar Ventana 4310.
There’s no comparison of the two of course. Currently our Ventana is at the dealership to replace a cracked tile and solar installation.
As far as the quality goes for the Palazzo, we really didn’t have much complaints other than some minor issues.

-Mid bath door hinges broken off.
-Bottom panel molding was installed backwards from the factory(got that fixed),water was pouring out when we shower.
-A soft spot around the shower drain( it didn’t bother us so we left it at that).
-All the drawers either stuck or too loose.
-Water holding tank starts to bulges on the bottom(dealer reinforced the bottom with steel beams).
-One of the post broke off from the big slide(we nailed it back on good as new).

One thing that bothers me the most is it has a small closet in the back bathroom that the door only opens half way because it hits at the top of the window valance.

The Palazzo has a much noisier rides and bumpier. On our last trip, our microwave plate had a suicide attempt when we hit a bump on the road but my mom caught it just as it land so it was saved.

From my own non-scientific analysis of this and other forums I have come to the conclusion that if you buy cheap you get cheap.

We've had our 2016 Palazzo 33.2 just about two years, and overall I'm happy with the quality.

Things to consider, however, are that all of the Classs A's are individually handmade. Most of the manufacturers do not have QC departments so it's kinda the luck of draw with the one you buy.

The price difference between the Palazzo and other brands comparable models was such that I figured I could afford a lot of repairs for that amount and what I have to pay for a higher quality model. So I bought a five-year warranty and still came out ahead of what I would have had to pay for Tiffin or Newmar or other brands.

I read, and from what I've seen is the Indiana manufacturers use a lot of the same sub-contractors so you get the same components regardless. The cabinets in my Thor look identical to so many others brands cabinets. And yes they are of very cheap quality. Overall I haven't seen high quality in most of Class A's that I've looked at.

Lastly, as poor, as you think the quality is from whomever you buy a coach from, it multitudes better that where ever you'll take it after you purchase it for repair or upgrades. I have endless stories about how bad it is to try and have routine repairs and upgrades made, but that another story.

Hope that helps.

In looking at a used RV rating guide, the Palazzo scores significantly lower in terms of reliability than the Excursion.
In the handling category based on the wheelbase to length ratio, the Palazzo 33 scores poorly, and while the Excursion 33 is slightly better, it's still quite low.
If you can step up to a 35/36 footer in either brand, the handling scores are much better.
Just a couple of points to consider.

We had a 2016 33.2 that we just traded in for our new Berkshire. It had 15k miles when we traded it. We never had any major issues in the two years of ownership. We replaced the house batteries after 2 years and our 4 way Anderson water valve failed after 1.5 years, which is very common. I ordered the new valve and we installed it ourselves using a You Tube video. For what we paid for it, we thought it was a good rig. It worked well for us and our needs. Thor had several issues with their slides being under-engineered in the early Palazzo models. They eventually added the extra rail on their slides and it seemed to fix the issue. Ours had triple rails on the slides and they worked fine. No issues. Good luck in your search.
