Question about Insurance

I have a question about Insurance:

The coach is insured with one company and the towed vehicle ( house etc ) is insured with another company.

If the coach runs over something in the road and damages the towed vehicle do you make a claim through the towed vehicle insurance company - or do you make a claim through the coach insurance company?

Actually when writing this it makes sense to claim with my car insurance company not the coach company - my thoughts anyways.

Thanks Paul

Might want to call towed vehicle company to see if it’s covered while being pulled.

You make the claim under the toad's own insurance. You could try to make a claim against the motorhome's liability insurance IF the motorhome somehow caused that damage to occur, but (assuming you are the owner of the motorhome) you would be suing yourself for damages. You aren't allowed to do that under any insurance policy I've ever heard of. If it was somebody eles's motorhome, you could do it.

Had this happen a few years ago: unable to avoid a large road gator and it went under the motorhome and then took out the front air dam on the toad. In our case both vehicles are under the same policy and the insurance company said it would be covered under the collision coverage of the toad.

I was told by an agent that if you have two companies it’s two claims and two deductibles. Of course he was vested in insuring both.
As to not able to file on yourself .. not so sure about that …. my pickup rolled into my other car in my sloped driveway ( my fault). Damaged the pickup door and side of the car. It cost me nothing as my insurance picked up the deductible on each.

For our motorhome policy if the toad is connected to the motorhome when the damage occurs the motorhome policy covers it as it would any trailer being towed.

So, once again, "It depends" is the correct answer.
