Question about residential refrigerator

Has anyone had their residential refrigerator come unsecured during travel?

If so, how was it initially installed and how was it reattached?

Mine has not. I put blocks in the bottom front in front of the rollers and bolted the frame in the bottom of the back to keep it from moving back and forth. I was afraid that wasn't enough so I put wedges in above it to keep it from being able to tip. I had no way to get to the top 2/3 to put anything in to secure it.

No issues--17 years and 185K miles....OEM fridge was secured with 4 bolts in feet thru floor.....secured replacement fridge with 2x6 across the top at the back, secured to cabinets, so can't tip....blocks at back on floor....cables around front feet and secured thru floor...it ain't going no where!

Fridge

Our last class a was a Bounder. The refrigerator broke lose from the top and fell out against a wall. This happened on mountain roads in AZ. My wife had to hold it in for about 100 miles. The engineers at Fleetwood figured you could hold the unit in with light duty metal hanger strap(plumbing) attached to the top hinges. Big fail. This was just one of many great experiences with our LAST Fleetwood product!
Attachment is the top of the refrigerator.

So was the repair at the dealer worse than the cause?

Now you have me getting concerned about mine. Maybe I need to look at it closer--when I get it back from REV/Fleetwood at Coburg.

The Bounder was a 2016 with a very nice Samsung refrigerator. The fix was easier than using the hanger strap. All it took was a angle bracket glued to the top of fridge. There was no recall but Fleetwood supplied me with drawings for the repair. Damn nice of them 🤬

Almost, aluminum angle was about $20 at a hardware store and a carry VHB with me. I looked for the repair print that was emailed but couldn’t find it. The angle was a 2x2x3/16” and runs across the top of the fridge then screwed to a wood existing crosspiece. I guess somewhere in 2016 they realized how stupid the strapping was and made the change.

Just an update.

REV aka Fleetwood PAID for the refrigerator to be secured. They sent parts to the RV dealer/ repair center I use and sent the instructions. This was 3 years out of factory warranty!

Thanks REV Decatur really appreciate you help with this!

Mine is secured in the back with large "L" brackets and it is also secured in the front with the same. Bottom line, it doesn't move a bit
