Question - Starlink - Cable & Slide Out

Good Day;

So here's my question: I'm going to purchase Starlink for our RV, I plan to install a Flag Pole Buddy with the Starlink Dish Adapter for the back Ladder.

We have a 2021 Entegra Vision which has one slide out that runs pretty much the full length of the RV.

I plan on pushing the wire thru the slide out to connect to the router on the inside.

Any problems with doing that over and over again, like every time we stop??

If I don't want to drill a hole into my RV is there a better way to get the wire from outside to inside the RV ??

Thanks - appreciate any of your thoughts.

Paul

Wouldn't be a problem running the coax as you suggested. The hardest hole to make in a new RV is the first one.

Does your rig have a cable TV hookup outside ?

Iceclimber - yes it does, inside the water bay - but to late for warranty we found out, it does connect to the tv.

Or were you thinking about something else??

You're a little unclear.....are you talking about pushing it through the seal every time you stop?

I never like doing anything temporarily if I'm going to use it all the time. Run the cable under the coach and bring it up through the floor. Often running it up alongside a sink or toilet drain works. Map out a route and then figure where the best place to put the router will be.

If you go through the seal it will cut the cable. I tried that for a serious satellite cable and failed!
My opinion is to drill a hole and run cable through the basement (drilling holes as you go) to the rear of the coach.
Your situation may vary.
I did run my We Boost across the roof and down through the fridge vent, then through the cabinets(drilling holes as I went)!

I have a 2022 Vision 29S with full length slide.

Starlink cable has a pretty good sized proprietary plug that can be cut off for some type through the wall run.... but normal cable/satellite plugs won't work.

I plan on just sticking the cable through the slide seal. In the rear lower corner of the slide. There is a gap and the cable doesn't affect the outer seal. The inner seal easily seals around the cable on the inside. It doesn't cut the cable on my rig as long as you keep the cable up a couple feet from the floor when moving the slide.

I just run the slide out a foot or so, push the cable though then finish putting the slide out.

While a permanent install would be nice, the dish has to get set up and the cable run each stop so the seal option to me is simple and not really any more work unless I mounted the dish permanently, then the cable would probably be mounted permanently also.

I like the seal idea too as it allows me to place the router either in the front of the coach or the rear. Not mounting the cable or the dish allows me to place it with the best sky view either in front o or to the rear of the coach. A bit more work....but a couple minutes in the overall setup isn't very much.

Dutch Star Don - ya I was going to run it thru the seal every time I stopped - or even leaving it there in the seal and just disconnect the dish.

Booze travel ya that was a concern but didn't mention it in case I was wrong - thanks both - I think I'll get underneath and look for a place to Drill into my interior - Yikes!! It's scary !!! Gees I never wanted to drill into my coach :(

The secret is to find something like a putty ring around plumbing. No drilling, push it through the putty or notch a small hole next to the plumbing.

Thanks all ..

Psneeld - that was what I was thinking, it gives me options of where I want to set up my dish, and I like pushing it thru the back end of the slide I can just put the router there in the bedroom out of the way of the living area.
Until I use it for awhile that I think is my best option so far. Thanks

I am saying you already have a coax connection, unless you plan on using cable TV. I used it in my pull behind for my coax booster connection.

Starlink doesn't use coax if you are suggesting to hook it to an external coax connector (cable/sat).

What I plan to do is just put the router in the basement and plug into a 110v plug there. The wireless signal easily penetrates the entire RV…..no need to put it inside.

Mine didn't....it had very weak signals in some parts when I tried it. Depends on the coach and or which basement compartment you use.

Plus my coach doesn't have any basement 110 plugs....not sure if all others do.
