Maybe it's just me, but if a seller told me THAT, then I would immediately accommodate him and inform him that in that case, I would be taking my "business" elsewhere. The last thing he would see from THIS perspective buyer would be my TAIL LIGHTS!

I went through a long search for a suitable coach and I found that a lot of people are afraid to give you the VIN of their coach (so I can run a carfax on it) - seems they think you are stealing their identity or something. Once I met with the people they offered the VIN, but not over the phone or email.

Tim's list looks good to me but you need the responses in writing otherwise it becomes a "yes you said/no I didn't" or worse "puffing"...at least in our fair state.

With ID theft and so many other scams circulating I can see a sellers reluctance to provide the VIN though it really makes no sense from a security standpoint. I'd probably remind the seller over the phone if he wouldn't provide the VIN that almost all ads on RVTrader and Craigs List provide it.
