Rate these coaches:
We're making that rare move from our second big diesel pusher to a smaller gas coach. All are in the 2005-2006 age range.
Looking at, and would like opinions on:
- Safari Simba 33 PBD
- Winnebago Sightseer 33
- Fleetwood Storm / Fiesta / Terra / Flair
- Georgetown XL
- Four Winds Hurricane
- Gulfstream Independence
Yes, we know all the incredibly amazing benefits of a diesel. We are wanting something a bit smaller and less complex for how we actually use it.

There is no doubt that I would select the Winnebago from this group. Of course, owners of the other brands will select theirs. It's just a matter of preference and research. Winnebago has a reputable name for standing behind their quality as evidenced by their many years of quality awards. My suggestion is to research each manufacturer and model and determine how pleased the owners have been. Winnebago has been praised over and over in the forums on this site.

I asked the same question and after looking at many coaches I learned a few things fast when buying used:
1) Previous owner, not make, means more in terms of quality
2) All require some little fixes
3) Floorplan, floorplan & floorplan
IMO of course but we looked at high and low end coaches and learned that there wasn't that much of a difference. What made more of a difference was the previous owner.

Yep, agreed. We just sold our Winnebago Journey diesel coach. Very high quality construction. I especially like their fiberglass roofs, really solid.
I do like the Safari very much as well. They tend to have much more sophisticated interiors; not as much etched mirrors, shiny brass hardware or floral print furniture as some others.
A few years ago, we had a 2002 Forest River diesel pusher. It was not as well built as the Journey, and that has me a bit hesitant about buying another Forest River product.

Winnebago- We had one 2 RV's ago, a '92 Brave 27'er. We really loved the thing, had a lot of good times in that rig. And that style coach still doesn't look "old". But funny thing about their fiberglass roofs, ours had one, and while it looked flawless and pristine, it leaked like a screen door. Some roof coating took care of that. (and I'm sure they've improved on them since '92)
That said, add me to the Winne list!

Automobilist, sorry this is totally unrelated to your question, however, I thought a while back you started a thread about purchasing a stacker trailer and towing one behind a DP. I thought that was you, maybe I am mistaken. Anyway, if so did you change your mind or did you have issues towing your stacker?
Sorry if I am thinking of someone else.
Mike.

You are correct, sir. We race vintage cars, and did buy a stacker last year. Turned out we decided not to run two cars a race weekend, so going back to a small 20' trailer & smaller motorhome.

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if I was thinking of the correct person or not.
