Recession years - which manufacturers should I avoid
Now that we're back in the hunt for our MH I have noticed that there are a lot of previous posts about avoiding a MH from a company that went out of business due to the great recession because of the availability of parts and poor workmanship. My thought is that I would be safer with one from a company that didn't go bankrupt i.e. Tiffin, Newmar, Winnebago/Itasca etc. if I am looking at something from 2007 - 2010. Thoughts?
Once again, TIA.

We bought a 4 yr old Tiffin Allegro Bus In 2010. Great vehicle. Great support. Best of all we do not require DEF in our Cummins.

Some of the DP 07, 08, & 09s had DPF problems. Very costly to repair. My preference would be to avoid those years. My '15 (probably) doesn't. DEF is not a problem. More places are selling. Prices are coming down. Cleaner emissions. Slightly better MPG. 35K LBS gets 8.8 mpg pulling car.

I have not heard to avoid any of these manufactures during those years, you might want to double check that advice.

Have not heard this either, furthermore, its actually easier & cheaper IF a DPF breaks on those model years to do just do a DPF delete an eliminate the DPF altogether.

Good plan to avoid early DEF units. We just purchased an 04 Newmar DPMA, were specifically look at 07 and earlier.
Suffered many frustrations and expenses with medium duty Cummins powered trucks back in 08,09,10 model years.

Bought an '09 Country Coach in Feb '15. The company went out of business in 2009. So far I've had no problems getting anything I've needed.
No if I needed a new bay door or other body item it could be a problem.

I really don't by into that way of thinking.. There are a lot of great coaches to choose from that have gone bye or been taken over. And a lot of them were the best built even compared to the rigs being made today. All the components mfg.s are still in business and I have found no issues in getting parts. If they quit making the parts it is due too being outdated and something better is available. (eg. old tube type tv. vs new led flat screen)
The worst event I think you might find is body parts not available such as a bay door or rear cap, but this can happen even on a still existing mfg.
My point is I would not bypass a great deal or floor plan you love, over the company being out of business. I have not needed any dealer help on any issues I may have had from my Monaco and the folks on this site have been very helpful to all members solving problems.. JMHO Doug.
