Refrigerator problem

Final verdict is the 2008 Monaco Diplomat DOMETIC NDA1402 side-by-side refrigerator freezer is dead.
It was spewing hydrogen and ammonia gas from the burner tube area.. RV mobile man says unfixable and really not worth it. Suggested a residential side-by-side that will fit in the same hole on my curbside slide out...
Has anyone changed out a refrigerator without taking it to a shop and having the windshield removed an ingress and egress through the front opening? Is there other ways to get this done? Find a refrigerator that will fit through the front door I'm hoping... Would prefer residential compressor fridge but if I have to I will locate a new Domatic that fits in the same hole rather than fix this one that's already 14 years old...

Anybody have tips on this upcoming job?

If you cannot find a residential unit to fit, even after removing the doors of the frig and door of MH, and do not want to remove a windshield to get it in, consider a 120V compressor cooling unit from for your Dometic: https://jc-refrigeration.com/product...-cooling-unit/

Often the refrigerator can fit through the drivers side window
, after removing the window and the doors off the refrigerator.

Assuming it fits, it seems like physically getting it in without damaging anything would be difficult, unless you have a few strong guys and know what you are doing.

Wow! That would be an amazing accomplishment bringing it thru that window. Perhaps a couple of NFL guys could help out.

Measure the door opening. Do you have anything that will cause a problem like the front of the dash or a TV cabinet??
Go to AJmadison.com, they have a filter by size, put in the critical dimensions and then look at what is available.

Most of the time height is the key measurement but if you have a drawer underneath or a cabinet above you can modify the opening to fit in a refrigerator.

I installed a Samsung RF18, I actually bought it on clearance at Lowes for $865 in 2017 while we were building our house to use knowing we'd probably use it in the Monaco Windsor eventually. Late 2018 the Norcold failed and I finally installed the fridge in the RV in 2019. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/sam...ne-461001.html

I tried to bring the fridge in through the door but the center dash console and TV cabinet wouldn't let it come in that way so I removed a curb side window above the dining table and brought the fridge in that way. Worked out good. I did have a tractor with forks so it was easy but it could be done out of the bed of a pickup an a couple people.

Some were able to replace and install a home fridge by removing the fridge doors and door brackets along with the RV door as well. Not hard, just a pain in the backside.

That's my plan when the day comes. We live full time in our Adventurer from October to May. Our Norcold 1201 is 17 years old and works perfect. One of these days it's gonna give up the ghost and when it does I will be installing the JC Refrigeration dual compressor AC unit. I've watched a dozen different videos on installing the various JCR units and I am confident it will be a fairly simple job.

If there is any concern about getting a Rezy fridge into the RV it might be worth a call to JC Refrigeration and see if they have something that meets your needs.

When our's go's, we need the propane fridge for dry camping. So most likely we will buy a new back side for our current unit. A Amish cooling unit replacement kit.

Refrigerator removal

My 2005 Dometic 12 cubic ft. side by side recently died so I ended up putting in a residential 12 cubic ft refer Frigidaire model FFET1222UB couldn't be happier The way I took mine out was to strip off as much as possible then use a saws all to cut up so it will go out the front door. the new one went right in. I have a furnace under the refer so I couldn't go larger, went to Ikea and found 2 wood wine racks that I stacked to fill the 9 inch side gap that the old refer left

Some fit thru windows or entry door if passenger seat removed. Removing windshield could be A very costly mistake if it breaks which would be the last choice. As others have said the Samsung is a popular replacement.

I have never seen it done, but have heard mNy reports of this. It definitely seems like you need some strong guys, although the same is true if you brought it through the windshield.

I got the impression the OP was hoping to do it himself, which for most would be impossible.

Couple owners said they tipped delivery guys to bring up the front door with passenger seat out. Provided it will go. The door scissor hinge disconnected seems like it would help.
You might be able to rent a contractor lift to lift through a side window. A few guys wold still be needed to stabilize lift and muscle it. A landscape guy with skid loader and forks or sod type 3wheel fork lift could be paid to use it to slide through window. A 3-4 hundred bucks for his time even a second hand ,still be cheaper than RV shop.

I have 3 boys in their early 20s so 2 of them in the back of my truck to feed it in and 2 of us inside. When the doors are off a modern 16 cu ft isn't that heavy. Make sure you put towels and blankets in the open window, seat and steering wheel. I actually bought a fridge that would fit through the entry door but the console and TV cabinet said "not so fast my friend". The window replacement was just a couple hours to take out and put back in. Most of that time was taking off the old sealant.Click image for larger version

Do you have an emergency exit window in the front area. That window is hinged. At the top there is a female rail
Similar to an awning rail. The window hangs from that rail. At either end of the rail there are small screws. Remove the screws
Spray the rail with wd40. Unlock the red handles for the emergency exit. The window can now be slid and removed. Your fridge should go through the window opening after you remove the doors. I also removed the blond and the valence
