No remote filter but here are my procedures, my oil filter is similarly positioned. First, break the filter loose so you know you will be able to remove it but do not unscrew it to the point you have oil running out. I ground the handle end of an old chain saw file to a sharp point and use it to puncture the filter for draining. You can use those hoses or wites to hold a small funnel to direct the oil from the filter into your drain pan. After the oil stops dripping, install the new filter. I slways prefill mine.
