I had a chance to give a second look at the #2 photo. On second glance it looks like that may be a air scoop in the picture. It looks like the hole is for an outside air intake. Try to move the scoop and see if it will move back and cover the hole. Or maybe the hole was to large and the scoop only covers half of the hole.

The second photo is where the goofy after market so called back up camera and a radio were installed. I am needing to know what is safe to stuff in there to block as much cold as possible due to the wires and hoses you can see.
Is fiberglass insulation safe?
After that I would place plywood or leather material or something of the sort to finish closing it off.
