Removal of Diamond Shield

My 2007 Coachmen Pathfinders diamond had crud growing under it and looked terrible. I am in Bonita Springs FL and Ugly Shield Removal in Fort Myers FL came highly recommended. Wayne, Ken and Kevin Michalsky came today and removed it and they did a job that is one of the best pieces of work I have ever seen and the cost is very reasonable. They do this exclusively and can be reached at 239-249-0793

Good call. I've seen a couple of DIY's that went really bad and ended up costing a few grand in paint repair.
Glad it worked out for you.

ugly shield

We got a quote from them, and I believe that they would do a good job. They wanted us to take the coach to them in Ft. Myers Fl (we are inn Clearwater, about 120 miles north).

We decided to DIY, and tackled it. We did it the hard way at the start, and then read some advice to use a steamer to remove the film. That helped more than I could have believed! We got a Wagner wallpaper remover steamer from Home Depot for about $50. Well worth it.

We got a set of plastic scrapers from Harbor Freight for about $10. They helped to remove the crap from the coach, but of course, the glue did not come off.

Back to HD for some adhesive remover( Goo-Gone is no help at all, and acetone may dissolve the clearcoat). TEST the adhesive remover to be sure the paint and clear coat are safe!

After that, it's just lot of work. It took DW and me about two weeks, working every other day for 4 to 5 hours.

Looks fine now.

I wish they were near Austin, TX. I would gladly pay them to do it.

I removed my film and used 3M citrus cleaner to dissolve glue. Spray on let sit for a minute and scrape off glue with plastic scraper.

Martin, the remover we used was Sentinel 747 formula.

The other pic is of the scrapers. Four in a package. I'm sure others have them too.
