removing carpet?

I'm about to redo my flooring in my MH and I want to know, how to remove the carpet that's under the slides. I'm planning to putting down hardwood panels instead of the carpet.

Be aware that some (most) slide out mechanisms are designed for the type of flooring to be used on the main floor. In other words a slide that presently has carpeting may very well use a skid to slide across the carpet or the rollers have a hard surface and if carpet is replaced with wood or linoleum is damaged because the slide was not designed for this type flooring. That being said, one can use a pad like product to lay onto the main flooring and bring the slide out onto it and not damage the floor.
Now to your question. What type of slide out do you have in the area you want to remove the carpet? Sometimes the carpet can just be cut at the edge of the ramp. Other times the slide out has to be removed. If you can drive the slide out onto some wood wedges an inch or so, you can look under the floor onto the main floor and get an idea as to what is involved. Good luck and my suggestion would be to call the manufacturer of the coach and pose this question to them and see what advice they surrender.

I removed all the carpet in my 96 Itasca Suncruiser with slide and I just put the slide out about 3/4 the way. Then that gives you room to install some wedges underneath the slide to lift it up to give you room to remove all the carpet. Mine has a ramp that the slide goes up on when out all the way. I was able to get a small screwdriver working both from inside and outside to remove all the staples. I then installed laminate flooring. The bottom of my slide has a Teflon strip running the full length of the slide. I just make sure that the floor is very clean each time I bring in the slide.
