Replaced temp sensor - now check engine light on

I have a 2004 Bounder pusher with a Cummins 5.9 diesel engine and <30k miles. My temperature gauge was not working so I assumed it was the temp sensor. I replaced it and now I'm getting a "Check Engine" light followed 10 seconds later with a "Stop Engine" light. I didn't do anything but replace the sensor. I even put the old sensor back in and I'm still getting the two engine lights. I did get a bit of anti-freeze gushing out during the replacement. Could this be a factor? Also, I have a code checker but don't see any place to plug it in. What's going on??? HELP!!!

Welcome to iRV2.

Low coolant level will give both the CEL and Stop engine warning .
Coolant level sensor in in the surge tank and coolant level ;HAS to be fully above the cold line to keep the sensor happy.

If you have a diagnostic tool for automotive , It won't work on a diesel pusher .

Connector will be round ( perhaps with a screw on cap ) and have wiring like the diagram. Grey or green , depending on year of chassis.
