replacement headlight bulbs

Tried to find a thread that addressed my" today" question, not a 2 years ago resolve.
My 2016 Ventana 4037 DP headlight beams are not satisfactory.

Looked up on eBay for solution and narrowed it down to SYLVANIA H13 SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight Bulb.

However when I checked out the customer reviews, I find multiple complaints of bulbs lasting only a year or so, or poorly fitting in lamp socket.

Now these were not RV folks.

Has any of our Newmar members found satisfactory brighter replacement bulbs?

If so, please leave a comment.

In order for these lamps to be brighter the mfg. Operates them at a much higher temperature than a standard lamp of the same type. That higher temperature shortens the life and caused them to burn out sooner. If you look at the spec's on the package it probably says their warranty is for one year or less. If it is possible given your MH HL style you might be able to switch them over to HID lamps, but that wouldn't be cheap. HID lamps not only are brighter but the lamp temperature is around 6500 or so Kelvin that's why they are very white light and today's helogen lamps appear somewhat yellow besides not as bright they are at a lower temperature Kelvin. You could see if they make a LED conversation kit for you MH that would improve your HL.

Try the Newmar Forum as there are several newer threads dealing with changing headlights on a Ventana. Here is one to start with.

"Nadge"......I hate to say it, but all these guys that change to HID or LED with a standard halogen lens in their RV are just fooling themselves. Yes, parked in your driveway or looking at them head on, they'll be brighter.....but that brightness is there because of scattered light and WILL NOT put any additional light down the road where you need. They would be fantastic if you drove down a narrow road lined with trees, they would light everything up like daylight. But on the highway, no improvement.

The BEST you'll do with your OEM lenses are the SilverStars. There is a trick you can try. High beam bulbs are more powerful and don't have the coated tip. The difference in installation, is that they're "clocked" differently. This means they would go in, in the wrong position if you try and insert them in the low beam. Often, this clocking can be changed with a dremel and you can insert a high beam in a low beam socket. You'll get some extra light.

Someone on another thread was plagued with the same issue.
Before spending money on new bulbs, check your voltage at the light to confirm you are getting enough energy to power your stock bulbs.
It has been mentioned that the manufacturers tend to use too small a wire creating voltage loss which creates poor performance.
This is on my “to do” list.

Some good information in the above article.
