Replacement hose for Evans dashboard A/C
Just before we left on our cross country trip last year the dash a/c in our 2016 Thor ACE lost all of its coolant. Repair guy found a leak in the hose. No time then to get it fixed. Fast forward to this summer and we are finding out that Evans has been bought out and that replacement hoses are special order and can cost for $670 to over $800.
What have others found about Evans, I emailed the new companies parts department today, not expecting anything back until sometime next week, we hope.
Currently, the plan is to put it on hold until we return from our planned 2 month trip in September.
Question for experienced folks: How much of the price is due to our current inflation woes and will it probably come down in the next year? Or it is what it is and always has been?

First question is why does it need a new hose? Where is it leaking? If at a crimp connector, the connector can be re-crimped or replaced. If at a wear spot in the middle of the hose then a splice connection can be installed at the leak point and the system recharged. You will need to replace the receiver dryer while doing the repair. Either of these repairs will run much less than the cost of a new hose. Also if you must have a new hose take the old one to a shop that makes up hydraulic hoses for industrial equipment like tractors, same type hose, and have a duplicate made for half the price.

1st you can do a search online for automotive a/c hose repair parts.. find one that works for you.. many times one can re build a/c lines on bench.. or go to a/c shop.. and let them make you the new hose.. some hydraulic shops don't do a/c lines.. don't get discouraged.. my favorite hydraulic shop does not.. In your travels next month.. Google a/c shops in the route.. hit one or 2 of them.. almost 99% of time.. if you source you own parts.. it is going to be cheaper.. make up on parts can be 10,000%
Good luck and keep us posted

Agree with comments that it can possibly be repaired, but finding a shop to do it can be problematic. I needed a new connector on hose by the compressor and it was very difficult (about 30 phone calls) to find a shop willing and had the space for the coach.
Removing the old hose isn't something I would like to try at least on my diesel pusher. If a gas coach maybe not so bad.
You could give the folks at Cold Hose a call. They were extremely helpful in my needs. They make hoses and offer hose kits. Good luck (click link for info) Cold Hose

Check for pricing and availability from https://coldhose.com/ I understand they make A/C hoses to order.
For recharging after replacing a hose, this will be helpful (near bottom of pdf) is a per foot chart of refrigerant.

If you're physically/mechanically capable of removing the hose, remove it yourself and drop it off at an A/C shop. They'll just fix or make a new one using your old fittings. If you do remove the hose, securely cap both ends of the system to keep dirt out.
If you can't do the work, then you may have to hunt for a shop that can handle your rig size and let them rebuild the hose. Rarely do you need a new hose unless the old one is missing.

Thanks all. I'm extremely disappointed in our RV shop. We have used them ever since we bought our first motorhome. Unfortunately, the original owner died of cancer about 1 1/2 years ago and I'm not impressed with the new owner. DH likes change less than I do and he likes the guy, however, how he has handled the hose issue really bothers me.
RV repair shops are few and far between here, most are happy to work on the coach but no interest in the mechanical running of the vehicle.
I plan to ask our RV coach guy for a suggestion. He has been around a long time and knows everyone.
BTW, in the middle of all this I had minor throat surgery and I'm having difficulty carrying on the needed conversation with DH. He knows I get a lot of advice and hints from the website, he likes the guy.
