Replacement Shower door

We own a '07 Newmar KSDP model 3912. It has a three panel sliding shower door. We are not at all happy with the exiting shower door. At first the screws and plastic guides on the bottom were loose and it rattled badly going down the road. I replace some stripped screws and tightened things up. The rattle is gone but the door is very difficult to slide open or close. The wife wants to replace it with a "sticks and bricks." Glass hinged shower door.

My recommendation was a quality shower rod and curtain.....nope, won't do. I would like a better shower door as well, I just wonder how it would hold up with all the bumps, pot holes, and stress things an RV see going down the road.

Any comments or suggestions? I see some that look like they would fit. And I see quality glass doors in new high end motorhomes? Your thoughts and experiences please.

I have a heavy glass shower hinged door in my Seabreeze and have no problems with it. The trick is, it has a magnetic strip the length of the door making it impossible to rattle or come open in transit. It also has a latch, but I never use the latch.

Do they make the original door anymore? I have the same door in my KS and am curious how you make out. My wife would rather have an update door in nickel finish.

That should work--go to a local glass company and get an estimate. We had a company install a glass shower surround in our house for $800.

I should add that we plan to go that route when we get our motor home. The age we're looking at will have that yellow brass surround and we'd like to go with something more subdued.

We had our disco-gold shower enclosure replaced with a brushed nickel version by Bradd and Hall in Elkhart. I had to tweak the installation a bit after I got it home, but it works well now and the wife loves it. It's important to have a means to secure the door. Otherwise, it can flop around and get warped which leads to nothing good.
